jcud: Techno is like a forest. the ground gives you a baseline, a steady path forward, and the canopy of leaves rattle above as if hats, pushing you down. the trees represent the beat, but no beat is the same, just as no tree is the same. then, suddenly, you emerge in a clearing and the low-end drops out and you feel the openness of the space and the pads. before you know it, however, you find yourself back in the forest and the beat surrounds you again. you peer as far into the forest as you can, straining your eyes, only to see an endless forest of deep. This imagery resonates strongly with me.
