EKO ComputeRhythm drum-machine from 1972 (demo 1)

Oh my! That case, the carrying handle, the analogue sound, the punch card feed slot, and those lamps! ♥

Raymond Scott demonstrating his Circle Machine sequencer:

i just got one of these: a maestro rythym king drum machine from the late 1960s. it is the greatest thing ever. this video offers an excellent demo of what it’s capable of.

Argh, jealousy rising! I am so in love with analog wood block and clave sounds.

The video was made by art from the band slowburn and, as well as having various interesting articles on the blog about the recording of their latest album with a mix of analogue and digital hardware/software, he’s also generously recorded and hosted a set of Maestro Rhythm King MRK-2 samples here for all of us who can’t track down one of these huge percussion monsters ourselves.

Mmm, polka time.
